Rhode Island Health Informatics Degree Programs

Rhode Island’s health informatics programs are at two private universities, both in the Providence area. Bryant University offers a hybrid MS in Health Informatics and AI, an online graduate certificate, and a bachelor’s, and Brown University offers an on-campus ScM in Health Informatics. No Rhode Island program is CAHIIM-accredited, and none leads to the RHIA or RHIT.

Which Rhode Island Program May Fit You Best?

For a Fast, Applied AI Master’s

Bryant‘s STEM-designated MS can be finished in 12 months and ends in an internship or capstone with New England health partners. Its online certificate is a lower-cost start.

For Research-Oriented Study

Brown‘s ScM places students on AI projects with faculty and affiliated health care partners, over two years or an accelerated one-year track.

For the RHIA, RHIT, or Nursing Informatics

No Rhode Island school offers these. Online programs in other states are the main option; see the bachelor’s directory for RHIA-eligible HIM degrees and the nursing informatics school directory.

How to Compare Rhode Island Health Informatics Programs

The two master’s degrees differ mainly in cost, length, and setting: Bryant’s costs about $31,400 and can take 12 months, while Brown’s costs about $74,600 over one or two years at a research medical center. Neither is online or CAHIIM-accredited, so students wanting either should look at out-of-state online programs.
