Maine Health Informatics Degree Programs

Maine’s health informatics options are mostly in health information management. Kennebec Valley Community College offers the state’s only public CAHIIM-accredited associate degree, and Beal University in Bangor offers accredited online associate and bachelor’s programs leading to the RHIT and RHIA. The University of New England offers online graduate certificates; no Maine school currently offers a health informatics master’s or a nursing informatics program.

Which Maine Program May Fit You Best?

For an Affordable RHIT Route

KVCC charges Maine residents $96 per credit and admits a fall cohort of 24. New England residents pay a reduced $144 regional rate.

For the RHIA

Beal University‘s online BS is Maine’s only CAHIIM-accredited HIM bachelor’s, with a 40-hour externship at regional health systems. Its first reported cohort was small, with no graduates in 2024-25.

For Graduate Study

The University of New England’s 12-credit online certificates can be finished in about six months, and its health informatics certificate courses transfer into UNE’s Master of Healthcare Administration. For a full informatics master’s, see the master’s directory.

How to Compare Maine Health Informatics Programs

Compare total cost in writing: KVCC publishes per-credit rates, while Beal publishes only base tuition by program. Also check outcomes; KVCC’s latest posted results are from 2019-20, and Beal’s recent figures cover very few students.
