Idaho Health Informatics Masters Degree Programs

Idaho has a small set of health informatics options, all at the undergraduate level. Idaho State University’s online associate degree in health information technology is the state’s only CAHIIM-accredited program and its route to the RHIT, and Boise State University offers a bachelor’s in health data analytics. No Idaho school currently offers a master’s in health informatics or a nursing informatics MSN.

Idaho students seeking graduate study, the RHIA, or nursing informatics will need an online program based in another state.

Which Idaho Program May Fit You Best?

For the RHIT or a Coding Career

Idaho State‘s online AAS admits a 20-student cohort a year and reports a 96% five-year average certification pass rate and 95% average employment. Its coding certificate is a shorter route to AHIMA’s CCS exam.

For Health Data Analytics

Boise State‘s campus bachelor’s pairs database and R-based data science courses with DASH Lab projects for statewide health partners. Its 15-credit certificate is open to students in any major.

For a Master’s, the RHIA, or Nursing Informatics

No Idaho school offers these. Online programs in other states are the main option; see the master’s directory, the bachelor’s directory for RHIA-eligible HIM degrees, and the nursing informatics school directory.

Programs That Have Closed

  • Idaho State University: its MS in Health Informatics no longer appears in the 2026-27 catalog or program list.
  • Boise State University: its Health Studies emphasis in health informatics and information management has been replaced by the BS in Health Data Analytics.

How to Compare Idaho Health Informatics Programs

Know Which Credential You Need

The RHIT requires a CAHIIM-accredited associate degree, which in Idaho means Idaho State. Analyst roles rely more on data skills, which Boise State’s degree emphasizes.

Check WUE Eligibility

Students from other western states may qualify for the Western Undergraduate Exchange rate at Idaho State, well below the full nonresident rate of $14,387 per semester.
